Diary entry

Dear Diary,

Vince came today, he wasn't how he used to be, we aren't how we used to be. Things have changed, I've changed. But I wish I hadn't. I wish I didn't need help I wish everything was it used be before I became like this. I've always been like this but that's not the point. He came today and he didn't want to touch me, it's like he didn't love me anymore. His hug was empty and full of nothing but resentment and remorse. I thought he was he would always be there for me but he's not anymore. He says he is but I don't think he will stay for more then a couple more weeks. I told him about the sirens and he said that I am his siren. If that's how I make him feel then he should leave me, I don't want to hurt him, because once the sailors reach the sirens they shipwreck and all the sailors die. It's just a metaphor really, for us. I just don't want him to fall overboard trying to save something that's not worth saving. I say I will take the pills but they all know more than me that I wont.

I just want Vince to remember how things used to be and to love me the way he used to, to hold me, now all we have are empty words that we both don't mean.

I just wish he still loved me. I just don't know if I still love him...

My characters secret

My characters secret is that she speaks seven languages, but nobody ever believes her because they never make any sense to anybody else.

They are actually languages that Lisa has created in her mind the aren't real, but due to Lisa's state of mind she believes that she can.
She doesn't have a lot of secrets because everyone in her wonderful world of Dissocia knows her secrets because they are in her mind however we know they are not real but, Lisa would not view them as secrets because the people in her mind know, who she thinks are real.

Tempo/rhythm of character

Lisa

Lisa in act one has a very light tempo, and rhythm that changes at times depending on what is happening, as she goes along the play her tempo increasing more and more until act two where her tempo and rhythm dramatically change and then in certain moments it spikes.
Her tempo and rhythm in act one is a 4 and 5 at he highest it would peak is a 7 and a 6. During act two though her tempo and rhythm would be a 3 and 3 decreasing lower to a 1 for both seen as she is not moving throughout the scene however at some points you can still tell she is in dissoccia in her mind therefor her internal tempo and rhythm would be 8 but on the exterior 1. This can create quite a contrasting character and hopefully this will be be able to be seen throughout the different scenes.
Act 2 Lisa has a very slow rhythm and tempo because Liza is on hospital except in scene 6 and her tempo and rhythm would both rise up to a 7.
During the goat scene her tempo and rhythm would peak due to the fear from what the goat is doing and also in act 2 in the scene where she is dancing would also have a peak because she is in her wonderful world in that moment.

Week 2

This week we worked on scene 2, the airport scene with the guards, where we created small groups doing slightly odd things, and acting as if they were normal. Bilan, Harmony and I worked together in our group to create our piece. Which we then all brought together in an ensemble, this show seems like it will consist of a lot of Ensemble moments, which hopefully will work and will capture the essence of the play

In lesson two we read through Act 2 and we also worked on the Oathtaker scene where we  all had to create our own cult and work as an ensemble, although the actor who played the Oathaker wasn't in so we had to work around it.

The reason we did this is to create an atmosphere within the play and because we want there to make sure the scenes all flow.

Wonderful World of Dissocia introduction

Wonderful world of dissocia has a main character called Lisa, she is a young woman, who suffers from dissociative identity disorder: Dissociative Identity Disorder, formerly referred to as Multiple Personality Disorder, is a condition wherein a person's identity is fragmented into two or more distinct personalities. Sufferes of this rarec condition are often victims of severe abuse.
I play Lisa in act two where she is in hospital due to her mental disorder.

The Wonderful world of Dissocia
The wonderful of dissocia, Anthony nielson wrote this play. The idea was originally work shopped by a group of students  at LAMDA in 2002, although he later re-wrote it and produced for the Glasgows Tron Theatre at the Edinburgh International Festival in 2004.
The play won the 2004-5 CATS award for best new play and the production secured best director award for neilson, best actress was awarded to Christine Entwisle (who was Lisa), and best design for Miriam Buether.
In December 2009, The magazine included his piece in their compilation of “Best of the decade”.
The play toured England in 2007, and had a London royal debut at the Royal Court Theatre that same year in march.

the debt collector

*      The Debt collector is a 1999 thriller film, which he wrote and directed.
*      The plays themes are forgiveness, revenge, change and the macho culture or the urban Scottish life.
*      The film is opens in the late 1970’s, but then soon moves to present time
*      The film was mostly set in Edinburgh, Glasgow as part of the Glasgow Film Fund and some was also shot in Edinburgh.
*      The film also won a FIRPRESCI prize at the Troia Film Festival.
*      He loosely based his main character on a man called Jimmy Boyle, for the murder of another gangland figure.

I have noticed that in his plays/ film he likes to create a contrast in certain parts to show a clear difference between things. For example, TWWOD act one and act 2 are contrasting; also in The Debt Collector when he starts it in the 1970’s where the main character is being arrested and then moving it to present time and the main character has changed their ways.
